Ways to Hide the Webcam on Your PC

You might be aware of some well-known urban legends involving malevolent online characters breaking into webcams and invading people’s privacy. Even though these tales are undoubtedly overdone in television shows and films, leaving your computer’s camera open all the time runs the risk of malware infections. If you work remotely or frequently participate in Zoom or Skype video conversations and wish to prevent inadvertently revealing your surroundings during a conference, you might also want to cover your webcam. Fortunately, you can secure your privacy and cover your webcam in less than a minute.

1 Use invisible tape to quickly cover your camera.
To create a decent barrier between you and your webcam, place a strip of transparent tape over it. Although it’s not as dark as some other choices, ordinary tape can provide a temporary remedy by sufficiently obscuring your surrounds to prevent prying eyes from seeing what you’re doing.
For those who would like not to draw attention to themselves when covering their camera, this is an excellent solution.

2.Use washi tape to create an elegant repair that is simple to take off.
Purchase washi tape, a unique type of tape printed with adorable, ornamental designs, online. As a humorous twist on standard tape, rip off a strip of this and stick it over your webcam cover.
Every time you need to use your camera, Washi tape is simple to remove.

3. For a playful fix, place a charming sticker over the camera.
Look for a sheet of cute stickers online or at a craft store. Remove the adorable pattern and apply it as a sweet shield to your webcam. You can leave this sticker on for as long as you want or until it begins to come off.
Seek stickers with a deeper background color. Your stickers might not completely cover up everything in your office or environment if they are too thin or light.
If you must remove a sticker, be careful to do it slowly as most stickers leave residue behind.

4. For an easy remedy, cover your camera with a post-it note.
A quick fix for an impromptu webcam cover is to use a post-it note. Post-its, regrettably, probably won’t stay on your camera for very long, leaving you open to attack once more.
Additionally, post-its may leave a sticky residue on the lens’ surface.

5. To hide the webcam, cover it with a piece of duct tape.
Cut a tiny piece of tape off, then position it in the center of your camera. This robust, dark-colored tape is a very affordable way to protect yourself while using the computer. It will keep any prying eyes off your webcam.
Remember that using duct tape can leave a sticky residue on your camera for a long time, so it’s not the best option if you want to use it again. Try an alternative strategy before utilizing this one since it might even harm your webcam.
If you want to avoid leaving a lot of residue on your camera, painter’s tape is an excellent substitute.
