Karen Alcock, 41, admitted at Lincoln Crown Court that she had been in charge of an out-of-control dog that had injured and killed someone.
On March 6th, Kyra King was assaulted in a wooded area close to Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire when her parents were out walking 19 dogs.
Father of the daughter, 54-year-old Vince King, entered a not guilty plea to the same offence.
They were released on bail and instructed to return to court on June 1 for Mr. King’s two-day trial. The couple is from Castle Dyke Bank in New York, Lincolnshire. After the trial is over, Ms. Alcock will get her punishment.
It’s difficult to think of a more terrible set of circumstances in the context of dog ownership and handling, prosecutor Jeremy Janes said during the hearing.
The pair was reportedly at rural Ostler’s Plantation with the group of dogs when Blizzard, a husky, attacked Kyra.
Judge Simon Hirst addressed the court and stated: “Ms. Alcock has the great advantage when it comes to sentencing because she has pled guilty, simply indicating that she has taken responsibility for this enormous tragedy and plainly has a substantial degree of regret for what happened.”
