When Princess Kate Middleton joined the royal family for Trooping the Colour, King Charles’ ceremonial birthday parade, in London on June 15, all eyes were on her. After revealing her cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy in March, this was her first public appearance in six months.
Princess Kate, looking stunning as always, donned a white Jenny Packham dress with black trim and ribbon details around the neck. Philip Treacy had arranged her hair nicely in a braided bun beneath a white bonnet. In terms of accessories, she chose the Irish Guards Regimental Brooch, which represents her honorary position as colonel of the regiment, and Cassandra Goad Cavolfiore Pearl Studs, which she had previously worn to Prince Louis’ christening in 2018 and Wimbledon in 2023.
Together with her children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, the Princess traveled in the Glass Coach before joining the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
Considered a tribute to the site of Prince William’s Earthshot Prize awards, Kate chose a bright green Andrew Gn frock and a Philip Treacy hat for Trooping the Colour last year. Princess Diana’s sapphire and diamond earrings and the Irish Guards’ gold shamrock brooch finished the ensemble.
“I’m looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet. I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty,” wrote Princess Kate in a personal letter on June 14, which also updated the public on her cancer treatment. Princess Kate has been to Trooping the Colour every year since 2011, with the exception of the scaled-down events of 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
