Taylor Swift surpassed the late Whitney Houston to become the most honored female artist in the history of the American Music Awards on Tuesday. However, there are more.

1. Micheal Jackson

Over the years, the late King of Pop told several rivals to “Beat It,” winning 24 AMAs in the process. He won several important awards in the pop and soul/R&B categories between 1980 and his passing in 2009, including the Award of Achievement (1989) and Artist of the Century (2002).

2. Alabama

The country group, known for its singles “Mountain Music” and “Song of the South,” raked up a remarkable 23 Grammys between 1983 and 2003, taking home Best Country Group almost every year for two decades.

3. Taylor Swift

The diva who won Best Country Female for the first time in 2008 and went on to win the honor for the next 5 years has no ill will toward the AMAs. The vocalist of “Shake It Off” and “Look What You Made Me Do” was given the prestigious Dick Clark Award for Excellence in 2014. The celebrity added four more awards to her collection during the gala this year, including Tour of the Year and Favorite Female Pop/Rock Artist. She also received her fourth win for Artist of the Year, bringing her total to 23 and makes her the female artist with the most AMA victories. Alabama and she are tied for second place overall.

Houston may have sung “I Have Nothing,” but she has 21 AMA awards to her credit. The “I Will Always Love You” singer dominated the annual program from 1986 through 1994, winning numerous awards in the pop and soul/R&B categories. She won the International Artist Award in 2009, her final AMA before passing away in 2012.

From 1978 to 1985, betting on the country singer to win an AMA was a sure thing if you were a gambler. The “Lady” singer was a prominent participant at the ceremony at that time, taking home 16 trophies in total and six Best Album victories (in both the country and pop/rock categories).
